Illinois announces non-conference schedule – University of Illinois Athletics

Champaign, Illinois – Illinois announced its non-conference schedule on Monday, including a number of high-profile games in preparation for the league game.

Illinois will host 19 games at the State Farm Center this season: 10 Big Ten contests, seven non-conference tournaments and two exhibition tune-ups. Mobile subscriptions and plans are now on sale to the general public. Tickets can be purchased online at FightingIllini.com or by phone at 866-ILLINI-1.

Following the exhibition games on October 23 and Father’s Day weekend on October 29, Illinois officially begins the 2021-22 season with two more clashes at the State Farm Center, opening the season on November 9 against Jackson. State and facing Arkansas State on November 12.

The Illini then play three straight away games, traveling to Marquette on November 15 for the Gavitt Tipoff Games and competing in the Hall of Fame Classic at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City on November 22 and 23, against Cincinnati and Arkansas or State of Kansas.

Illinois returns to home action after Thanksgiving, hosting the Texas Rio Grande Valley on Friday, November 26. The Illini then welcome Notre Dame to Champaign on November 29 for the 23rd Big Ten / ACC Challenge.

After Big Ten’s first two games, Illinois’ non-conference schedule resumes with a scorching showdown Saturday against Arizona on Dec. 11 at the State Farm Center, followed by another home game on Saturday against St. Francis (Pa .) on December 12. 18.

After a one-year hiatus, the Braggin ‘Rights series returns to its traditional neutral location in St. Louis, with the annual rivalry game against Missouri scheduled for Dec. 22 at the Enterprise Center.

Non-conference play ends after the holidays, with Illinois hosting Florida A&M on December 29.

Led by the candidate for National Player of the Year Kofi Cockburn, 2021 Big Ten sixth man of the year André Curbelo, and beginners of the fifth year Trent Frazier, Da’Monte Williams and Jacob Grandison, Illinois reclaim 63% of its minutes, 60% of its points and 69% of its rebounds, while adding some stellar transfers and a top-25 recruiting class.

Illinois are coming off a 24-7 campaign, including a 16-4 conference mark, followed by the Big Ten Tournament Championship and the No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament. Illinois set school records with 19 wins over competitors from the Big Ten and six wins against the Top 10 teams. Illinois finished the year at No. 2 in the AP poll, the second-highest final ranking in program history.

The Illinois Big Ten home schedule includes the following 10 teams: Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, Rutgers and Wisconsin. The full conference program will be published as it becomes available.
