Katie McGlynn revealed she joined Hollyoaks – 18 months after leaving Coronation Street.

The actress, 27, left the ITV soap opera in 2019 after the death of her character Sinead Tinker following a heartbreaking cervical cancer storyline.

Speaking in a new interview, Katie revealed that she was so ‘excited’ to join Hollyoaks and that she was set to play a new mother called Becky on the soap opera.

Becky, who is said to have an ‘ulterior motive’, is believed to befriend Diane Hutchinson, played by Alex Fletcher, in upcoming scenes – which air July 5 on E4 ahead of Channel 4 on July 6. .

She said her decision to leave the soap opera after six years “ backfired ” when her career stalled, but claimed she did not regret leaving.

Her last heartbreaking scenes aired in October, with fans in tears when Sinead passed away, leaving her husband Daniel devastated.

She subsequently landed a promising new role in The Syndicate on BBC One and embarked on new auditions.

However, with the coronavirus outbreak stagnating TV production, Katie admitted she had struggled to stay optimistic about her prospects for the future.

During the first nationwide lockdown in March 2020, Katie revealed that she “ secretly loves ” being stuck at home, as she spent her time baking banana bread and indulging in new Netflix shows.

But she soon got bored of being stuck inside and began to think about her career decisions.

Looking back, she confirmed that she left Coronation Street at the ‘worst time’, but on the other hand, she said she would have ‘regretted not leaving more than taking a chance ”.
