Sept. 20 (Reuters) – Great basketball player Michael Jordan will increase his investment in Sportradar Group AG (SRAD.O) and serve as a special advisor to the company’s board of directors, the gambling data company said on Monday.
The company’s shares rose 3.4% in extended trading.
Swiss company Sportradar went public last week via the initial public offering route after abandoning its proposed merger with a specialist acquisition company earlier this year.
The company did not provide details regarding the increase in Jordan’s stake, but said its advisory functions would revolve around the US market, product development and marketing activities.
Jordan, a six-time NBA champion with the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s, was an early investor in Sportradar. He also joined sports betting company DraftKings (DKNG.O) as a special advisor in September of last year.
Sportradar provides software, data and content through subscription and revenue sharing agreements to sports leagues, betting operators and media companies. Its clients include DraftKings, Twitter (TWTR.N) and ESPN.
