NASCAR to Roll the Dice at Las Vegas Motor Speedway

After a chaotic first round of the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs, the second round is set to begin in Sin City this Sunday night.

Bristol Motor Speedway offered the fire and tension that NASCAR fans crave, but the whole game will be in Clark County, Nevada this weekend, when the Round of 12 is set to begin at Las Vegas Motor Speedway with the South Point 400. One Cup Series driver could withdraw his ticket for the round of 8 on Sunday evening.

In the spring race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Kyle Larson won the second stage and won the race with 103 of 267 laps led.

What most don’t remember is that Brad Keselowski won the first stage and was dominant until Larson took over. While Team Penske drivers have struggled at times this season, you have to give credit where credit is due; they don’t give up easily.

Keselowski should also come out with a championship race.

It was announced in July that he would join Roush Fenway Racing not only as a driver but as part-owner of the team, leaving a gaping hole in the Penske organization for the future.

There is no indication that this decision was taken on bad terms, so I have to believe the goal is to end this season on a high note and move on to next year with a fresh start.

So who will win the South Point 400? Here are some choices I have in mind; you can think of that as fantastic programming if you have to.

I would still include Kyle Larson (+300) and Brad Keselowski (+1000), but sleeping on Denny Hamlin (+600) and Joey Logano (+850) would be a colossal mistake.

Regarding a fifth option, I would also put Martin Truex Jr. (+650) in the mix. This track hasn’t always been a playground for Toyota, but the momentum Joe Gibbs Racing has right now could play a huge role in the result.
