LINCOLN, Calif. — CJ Colyer’s three-run home run in the top of the sixth inning gave the Medford Rogues a 5-0 lead, but late-inning pitching issues again proved to be a problem as host Lincoln Potters rallied with three points in the bottom of the ninth for a 6-5 victory Thursday night at McBean Stadium.
Medford scored singles in the third and fifth innings to take a 2-0 lead, with Trey Nelson heading home despite a Lincoln double play and Emiliano Alarcon later tackling Carson Blatnick.
The Rogues (16-14-1), who had dropped the first two games of the three-game series, then saw off Grayson Grinsell and Reece MacRae in singles in the sixth inning to set the table for Colyer. With one out, Colyer crushed a drive over the fence to create a 5-0 advantage.
Lincoln tacked on a single run in the sixth and seventh innings to close in, then made it 5-3 on a solo home run in the eighth by Chase Stanke.
Jacob Memmott inherited a goal-laden jam against Colyer in the ninth after two walks and a single, but two more walks tied the game and then Trevor Tishenkel provided a scoreless single.
Eamon Velarde allowed just four hits in five scoreless innings to start the game for Medford. Velarde also struck back four goals and walked one.
